Intel’s new 8th Generation Intel Core Processor gives 3 times FPS & has onboard Radeon RX & Vega M Graphics. So, this new compact design will result in faster, portable, and compact devices with a server like power.

Intel 8th Gen Intel Core Processors

The Intel once again has surprised us with their ingenuity and calibre. Intel has come up with a unique design that let them combine Graphics Memory, GPU, CPU on a single unit.
New Innovation in augmented reality has opened new horizons for latest innovation and also raised the bar for Intel as well.

Introduction of this design will enable manufacturers to make more slim and portable notebooks with more processing power.

There are many devices that are already being introduced with these processors. The Dell, HP are rolling out lightweight thin laptops with this processor, and they will be first to do so.  Intel’s own NUC, formerly Hadeys Canyon is the most powerful NUC Intel from Intel ever.

Intel wants to tap into the gaming market, which Nvidia holds so dear, & it seems they want to emerge as a market leader in this segment as well.

The new 8th Gen Intel Core processor will come in two configurations:

  • 8th Gen Intel Core processor with Radeon™ RX Vega M GL Graphics (65W total package power)
  • 8th Gen Intel Core processor with Radeon™ RX Vega M GH Graphics (100W total package power), with an unlocked configuration

Why 8th Gen Intel Core Processor gives 3x fps

Intel told us about 8th Gen Intel Core processor in November 2017.  What’s new in this processor unit is that it integrates following three units on a single mini board

  • Intel quad-core CPU,
  • Radeon RX™ Vega M graphics and
  • 4GB of dedicated HBM2

Intel uses their own Embedded Multi-Die Interconnect Bridge (EMIB) technology to achieve this. EMIB is actually a high-speed intelligent information bridge between the GPU and HBM2.

Since the distance between the Memory, GPU, & CPU is reduced considerably it allows latency and dissipation to a minimum, and space is reduced to almost half.

Advantages of 8th Gen Intel Core Processor

With 50 % board space savings, the OEM can use this space to innovate and create even lighter devices.

According to Intel average 3-year-old systems weigh nearly 3~3.5 kg ( 7 lbs) with the battery runtime of maximum four hours. Such systems are generally 32 MM thick.

This new processor will allow similar devices to become up to 17 MM thick, battery run time of 8 hours.
